Project Management (PjM) is one of six virtual prep courses AIA NoVA offers annually. Each class provides attendees with an opportunity to learn from top-notch design professionals while gaining knowledge that can be used to prepare for each section of the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®). Advance registration is required by 5:00PM ET on the Thursday directly prior to each Saturday seminar. REGISTER NOW!

Course Description
Prepare effectively for the Project Management section of the Architect Registration Examination 5.0 (ARE 5.0) through this comprehensive course. Dive into the nuances of managing architectural projects, covering design and construction phases. The course emphasizes essential elements such as organizational principles, contract management, consultant coordination, and quality control, all while prioritizing the public’s health, safety, and welfare. Join us for a practical journey to enhance your skills as you prepare for the ARE 5.0.

Learning Objectives

  • Gain insights into the role of the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) across diverse jurisdictions, including federal projects. Understand how AHJ determines and enforces building codes within distinct jurisdictions.
  • Explore how various project delivery methods influence the allocation of responsibility for meeting building, fire code, and ADA requirements between contractors and architects. Grasp the roles of architects and contractors in ensuring code compliance for each project delivery method.
  • Acquire knowledge on effectively observing and reporting project progress during construction. Learn how to identify and report unsafe contractor construction activities that fall short of OSHA or code requirements.
  • Develop an understanding of implementing a quality control program to guarantee compliance with current building code and ADA requirements. Explore coordination strategies with various disciplines, including structure and MEP, to ensure the project aligns with the highest standards and prioritizes safety and accessibility.

Cancellation requests must be received via email (to [email protected]) no later than 5:00pm on the Wednesday immediately prior to the Saturday class to receive a refund (minus credit card and processing fees). Any session missed will not be refunded; however, paid registrants will receive any pre-/post-session class materials. Class materials from any refunded session will not be provided. Registrants who purchase the series bundle package are eligible for one class refund (minus credit card and processing fees) and will not receive the class materials.  Any additional classes missed are not eligible for refund; however, you will receive class materials.
