Designing Our Future: AIA Northern Virginia's Strategic Plan

2023-2027
In the face of unprecedented challenges, architects have a vital role in designing a better future for our communities, country, and planet. AIA Northern Virginia recognizes the need for impactful change, addressing climate impacts, racial inequities, and infrastructure neglect. This five-year strategic plan aims to transition the chapter from an event-based organization to an impact-based organization, focused on design innovation and excellence. By elevating the value of architecture in our community, we strive to advance the quality of the built environment for all.

The Process:
The AIA Northern Virginia Executive Committee conducted a two-day strategic planning retreat in 2022. The committee thoroughly analyzed various data sets, including membership demographics, financial analysis, member surveys, market conditions, and evaluations of previous strategic plans. Insights from the national and state AIA strategic plans were also considered. This comprehensive review informed the development of our strategic goals and initiatives. The Board of Directors unanimously adopted the 2023-2027 strategic plan in December 2022.
