AIA Northern Virginia Honors Nominations

AIA Northern Virginia annually seeks nominations for the Chapter's Honor Awards program. Given at our annual business meeting in October, these Chapter awards recognize the outstanding achievements of our members and colleagues.

Members are encouraged to nominate potential recipients who are elevating the profession through design, advocacy, education and/or leadership. To do so, please complete this form to submit the nominee's name and contact information and include a brief narrative (approximately 250 words) and any supporting graphic material. Awards given can vary from year to year and are overseen by the Honors and Nominations Committee.

Nominations accepted on a rolling basis with the cycle for the current year closing on the second Friday of July.

    Annually, AIA NoVA awards scholarships and grants to emerging professionals pursuing licensure.

    Northern Virginia Local Jurisdictions Honors + Awards

    DESIGNArlington is a biennial awards program that recognizes excellence in design, showcasing the distinctive architectural, historic preservation, landscape and public art projects in our community. This awards program highlights Arlington’s architectural diversity and some of our best examples of design over a broad spectrum of the built environment.

    Established in 1984, the Fairfax County James M. Scott Exceptional Design Awards recognize achievement in the total design of a building and its site. The awards aim to raise awareness of outstanding planning and design projects among design professionals and the general public. The design awards program is sponsored by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and administered by the County's Department of Planning and Development in cooperation with the County Architectural Review Board and the Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

    The Signatures of Loudoun Design Excellence Program recognizes the buildings and public spaces that reflect outstanding design, renovation, adaptive reuse and visually groundbreaking projects throughout the county.

    AIA Virginia Honors

    The  AIA Virginia honors program recognizes Virginians who “by profession or avocation, have made creating, preserving, and enhancing Virginia's communities an important life commitment.”

    AIA National Honors + Awards

    The American Institute of Architects recognizes individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievements in design and in support of the profession of architecture and the AIA. Learn more about AIA National awards programs, submission information, and deadlines here.

    Fellowship

    The AIA Fellowship program was developed to recognize and elevate those architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society and who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession. Elevation to Fellowship not only recognizes the achievements of the architect as an individual, but also honors before the public and the profession a model architect who has made a significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level.
