Course Description
Prepare for the Construction and Evaluation section of the Architect Registration Examination® 5.0 (ARE® 5.0) with our comprehensive course. As one of the six divisions in ARE® 5.0, this program delves into construction, contract administration, and post-occupancy evaluation of projects. Explore critical areas like construction observation, shop drawing and submittal review, bidding and negotiation, and project closeout, all essential elements for safeguarding the health, safety, and welfare of building occupants. Join us for a practical and thorough preparation experience.
Learning Objectives
- Investigate and analyze contractor qualifications, assessing relevant experience for the project type to ensure that the construction process is executed by competent workforces, thus safeguarding public well-being.
- Observe construction progress through virtual site visits, ensuring compliance with life safety requirements, quality standards, and specifications, along with adherence to program design requirements outlined in permitted documents.
- Assess non-conforming construction work identified during virtual site visits and propose resolutions to bring the project into conformance to ensure occupant safety and adherence to administrative procedures and protocols.
- Analyze the performance of a building during its initial year of use, incorporating sustainability rating systems to verify target achievements, particularly in relation to occupant health. Additionally, as part of the Project Closeout & Evaluation process, participants will formulate effective solutions to address any identified performance issues.
