AIA Virginia Design Awards
AIA Virginia’s Awards for Excellence in Architecture recognize outstanding design, built and unbuilt, from the past seven years. Also known as the Design Awards, the program is juried by a team of esteemed practitioners.

Due June 30, 2026

2026 VANOMA Diversity ARE Scholarship Application
Up to 2 winners will receive $750 each in reimbursements for exams, study programs, books, and practice questions. Additionally, this year’s recipients will also receive 1 year of free VANOMA membership.

Due July 10, 2026

James M. Scott Exceptional Design Award
The awards program celebrates outstanding planning and design features within Fairfax County, VA that enhance the experience of site users and visitors.

AIA/ACSA Topaz Medallion for Architectural Education
Recognizing outstanding individual contributions in architectural education.

Architecture Firm Award
The Architecture Firm Award is AIA’s highest architecture firm honor, recognizing one (1) firm every year that has produced notable architecture for at least a decade.

Associates Award
Recognizes exceptional Associate AIA member leaders who have made significant contributions to their community, organization, and/or industry.

Award for Excellence in Public Architecture         
Recognizes architects, public officials, and others who design notable public facilities and/or advocate for design excellence in public spaces.

Gold Medal        
The Gold Medal is AIA’s highest annual honor, recognizing individuals whose work has had a lasting influence on the theory and practice of architecture.

Honorary Membership   
Recognizes the notable contributions and service of people outside of the architecture profession.

Whitney M. Young Jr. Award
The Whitney M. Young Jr. Award is given to an architect or architectural organization that embodies social responsibility and actively addresses a pressing social issue.

Young Architects Award        
Recognizes the exceptional work from young architects.

AIA NoVA ARE® Scholarship
The selected recipient for the ARE® scholarship will receive financial support to cover the cost of six tests.

Due Sept. 18, 2026

Cape Charles Railroad and Harbor Ideas Competition
The competition seeks innovative and visionary concepts to inform a new master plan that is being developed for the harbor area.

Due Oct. 1, 2026

Fellowship
Be recognized with AIA’s highest membership honor for exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society.

Due November 15, 2026

Medal for Academic Excellence
Awarded to the top graduating students with a Bachelor of Architecture, Master of Architecture, or Doctor of Architecture from schools accredited by NAAB or CACB.
