For the fifth consecutive year, the AIA Northern Virginia Women in Architecture (WIA) Committee welcomed members, friends, and families to its annual Summer Social – an event centered on building relationships, strengthening connections, and celebrating the people who make our profession so rewarding. Held in a relaxed outdoor setting at Paradise Springs Winery in Clifton, VA, the WIA Summer Social continues to be a favorite tradition that brings together professionals from across architecture, engineering, design, and related industries for an afternoon of conversation and community.

This year’s gathering welcomed architects, designers, engineers, landscape architects, students, emerging professionals, and long-time WIA supporters. Whether attendees were reconnecting with familiar faces or meeting someone new, the event reflected WIA’s commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive network that spans every stage of a professional career.

Conversations throughout the afternoon ranged from summer vacations and current projects to firm work and work-life balance. One of the most memorable aspects of the event was simply the energy of the group. Laughter carried across the venue, conversations continued well into the afternoon, and many attendees shared how enjoyable it was to reconnect with colleagues while also making new connections.

As WIA looks ahead to another year of programming, the continued success of the WIA Summer Social is a reminder that meaningful connections remain at the heart of a thriving professional community.
