Celebrate the People Who Strengthen Our Profession: 2026 Honor Award Nominations Open

Every chapter is strengthened by the people who go above and beyond—those who lead, mentor, innovate, advocate, volunteer, and elevate the profession in ways both large and small. Do you know someone whose contributions deserve to be recognized?

The AIA Northern Virginia Honors & Nominations Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Chapter Honor Awards. This is your opportunity to celebrate the individuals, firms, allied professionals, craftspeople, and community partners whose work makes a lasting impact on our profession, our chapter, and the communities we serve.

Too often, meaningful contributions go unrecognized simply because no one takes the time to nominate them. Whether it’s a colleague who consistently demonstrates exceptional leadership, a mentor who has guided the next generation, a volunteer who has strengthened our chapter, or a partner organization that has advanced the value of design in our community, we encourage you to help shine a light on their achievements.

Award categories include:

• Award of Honor
• Outstanding Achievement
• Distinguished Leadership
• Service to the Chapter
• AIA Northern Virginia Chapter Award
• Craftsmanship Award
• Special Recognition
• Allied Professional Award

Submitting a nomination is easy. Simply provide the name of an individual, firm, or organization along with a few sentences describing why they deserve recognition. Self-nominations are welcome, too. If additional information is needed, our committee will follow up before the jury convenes.

Award recipients will be recognized and celebrated at the AIA NoVA Autumn Social this October.

Nominate someone today and help us honor the people who make our profession stronger.

Nomination Deadline: Friday, July 10, 2026
