AIA Northern Virginia’s Legislative and Government Affairs Committee serves as a vital link between the architecture profession and local governments throughout the region. The committee works to strengthen relationships with both public officials and allied professional associations, focusing on issues that shape the built environment and impact the practice of architecture.

The committee’s work spans a range of important topics, including legislative policies affecting architecture and planning, local government review processes (such as permitting and project entitlements), and emerging technologies that could influence the profession. It also seeks opportunities to partner with jurisdictions on shared goals, reinforcing the value architects bring to policy discussions.

We’re excited to introduce Jeremy Mack, AIA, as the new committee chair.
An Associate and Project Manager at FGM Architects in Reston, Jeremy brings over 25 years of experience in the DMV area, particularly in multi-family and mixed-use projects. A passionate advocate for the profession, he is eager to revitalize this committee as a platform for advocacy, education, and engagement.

If you’re interested in policy, advocacy, or just want to learn more, join us at the first committee meeting! It’s a great opportunity to get involved and help shape the future of architecture in Northern Virginia.
