The AIA NoVA Women in Architecture recently hosted an exclusive tour of Inspīr Embassy Row, a newly transformed luxury senior assisted living community in Washington D.C.’s Dupont Circle. Formerly the historic Fairfax hotel, the building has been reimagined into a sophisticated senior living destination designed by Beyer Blinder Belle Architects. The transformation honors the building’s historic roots while introducing modern features and amenities that cater to an active, engaged senior lifestyle.

The tour showcased the building’s design, which seamlessly blends high-end finishes and modern conveniences within a historic framework. The project maintains the integrity of the building’s exterior while introducing a fresh, contemporary interior with subtle nods to the past. Attendees explored the expansive amenities on the ground floor, including the grand lobbies, three dining venues, a double-height gathering room with custom stone fireplaces as focal points, the library lounge, art and screening rooms, and multiple outdoor terraces. The tour continued to the building’s wellness floor, which features a double-height fitness center, pool, and spa lounge, as well as steam, salt, and sauna rooms, all located in the former parking garage.

The tour then moved on to a selection of unique studio and 1-bedroom model units for both memory care and assisted living. These units feature kitchenettes with custom millwork finishes, expansive windows, zero-threshold bathrooms, and provide residents with comfortable, stylish living spaces. The communal areas on each resident floor are designed with comfort and interaction in mind, creating spaces that encourage socialization among residents.
The tour concluded at the newly added penthouse amenity space on the rooftop, offering expansive views of Washington D.C. through floor-to-ceiling windows and a folding window wall system that opens to an outdoor terrace with seating areas, gardening opportunities, a water wall, and a firepit. The event wrapped up with a happy hour, providing attendees with a chance to mingle and network.
Thank you to Cosentino for sponsoring the tour. Don’t miss out on the next AIA NoVA Women in Architecture building tour!
