Gina Robinson, AIA, WELL AP

(She/Her)

2026-2027

AIA VA Director elected by AIA NoVA

Associate, HDR, Inc.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Gina brings over 18 years of experience to her role as Project Designer with HDR in Arlington, Virginia. Though the first years of her career through the Great Recession were challenging, she gained early experience in Charlotte, NC, and Suzhou, China, before settling in Northern Virginia in 2014. When she returned to the US after working overseas, Gina was eager to engage with other professionals and became an active participant in the AIA Northern Virginia Women in Architecture committee.

Over the past decade, Gina has developed a focus on mentorship and advocacy, emphasizing increasing diversity and transparent communications to emerging professionals as they begin their careers. She served two terms as Associate Director on the AIA Virginia Board (2015-2019), participated in the Honors Committee Diversity Taskforce (2019), Inclusivity into the Profession Taskforce (2022), Mid-Career Professionals Taskforce (2024), and Art of Practice Planning Committee (2025); each also facilitated by AIA Virginia. These experiences, combined with her background and early career obstacles, motivated her to volunteer to serve as AIA Virginia’s Component Appointed Licensing Advisor, for which she was selected in 2023. Gina looks forward to continuing service in this and other roles with her State and Local Components.
