Meet The Jury for Design Awards 2025

Each year, the Chairs of our Design Award committee travel to a quadrant of the country, visiting a different city in search of new architect professionals to review and judge our Chapter’s Design Award submissions. This year, the Design Awards headed to St. Louis, Missouri.

The jury was held at the offices of CannonDesign on Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2 where 99 submissions were chosen for acknowledgement by the included architects. Each day had a distinct jury, with each reviewing entries and supporting their preferred choices from a selection of the submission categories. The individuals who served on the two juries are:

Nneoma Asinugo, AIA | Arcturis

With experience in a range of project scales and types, including higher education, multifamily residential, corporate, and hospitality, Nneoma’s goal is to positively impact people through transformative design. She believes good design is human-centered and environmentally conscious at its core and should be accessible to all. As such, she is passionate about creating sustainable environments that are also socially responsible, inspiring, and that enhance everyday life. Nneoma graduated from Kansas State University, receiving the AIA Henry Adams Medal. She then moved to St. Louis, where she is actively involved in the local AIA chapter, serving on the J.E.D.I. committee and Board of Directors. She enjoys introducing the architecture profession to potential emerging architects and values opportunities to reach diverse sets of young students.

Joel Fuoss, AIA  | Trivers

Joel believes that as members of our communities, we should give more than we take, a mindset that drives his approach to architectural design and his commitment to improving the built environment. As a Principal at Trivers, Joel champions thoughtful, creative design solutions across all project typologies, in both new construction and adaptive reuse. He has led some of the firm’s most complex and high-profile projects, earning the firm over 20 local, regional, and national AIA design awards in the past decade. Recognized for his advocacy and expertise, Joel has been invited to speak at conferences and seminars, sharing insights on design and firm culture he and his partners have built to support Trivers’ portfolio of impactful work.   

Anna B. F. Ives, AIA NCARB LEED AP CDT | Patterhn Ives

Anna B. F. Ives is the managing partner of Patterhn Ives, and a Visiting Assistant Professor at Washington University in Saint Louis. She has a diverse portfolio of award-winning work focusing on higher education, cultural institutions, and historic restoration. Anna approaches teaching and project work with criticality, rigor, patience, and persistence; finding the complement of the two pursuits essential. In 2009, Ives was among 30 outstanding St. Louis-area business professionals selected by the St. Louis Business Journal to receive a 30 Under 30 Award. Ives graduated from Columbia GSAPP with a Master of Architecture in 2006. Prior to her graduate education, she studied economics with a focus on international finance at Bryn Mawr College. 

Andrew Kerr-Grant, AIA NCARB LEED AP BD+C PMP  | KAI Design

Andrew Kerr-Grant is the St. Louis Architectural Studio Leader for KAI Design, a national MBE firm transforming communities through its expertise in commercial, K-12, higher education, healthcare, science and technology, government, cultural, and community-focused projects. Originally from Australia and a graduate of Melbourne University, Andrew has lived and worked in Philadelphia, Chicago, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and St. Louis. His experience prior to joining KAI in 2022 included the design and execution of multi-family residential, commercial, laboratory, higher education, K-12, and government facilities, ranging from small renovation endeavors through large multi-million-dollar projects.

Adriana Perrone, AIA NCARB  | AP,A

Adriana Perrone is an architect, designer, fabricator and owner of AP,A – founded in 2018. She is a licensed architect, gaining her experience working in New York, Brooklyn, Springfield, and St. Louis. She has designed and managed residential, commercial, retail, K-12, and higher education projects located across the country. With her diverse project and client background, Adriana is well-versed in the architecture and design industries and has developed detailing and fabrication skills including welding, woodworking, and specialty finishing with a keen eye for craft. Her residential and retail work has extended across the country including the high-end markets of SoHo and the West Village, the Upper East Side of Manhattan and Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Adriana currently serves as Co-Chair of the AIA St. Louis Design Awards Program and is also a founding member of the AIA St. Louis Committee on the Environment (COTE®). Through 2027, Adriana will serve as a member of the City of St. Charles Planning and Zoning Commission.

Thomas Wall, AIA | Mitchell Wall Architecture & Design

Thomas Wall is a St. Louis-based architect and owner of Mitchell Wall Architecture & Design, a firm renowned for its custom residential and commercial projects. He assumed leadership of the company in 2011, continuing the legacy of his parents, Mitchell and Carol Wall, who founded the firm in 1976. Wall’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts in Medieval Literature from Cornell University in 2003. He later pursued a Master of Architecture at the University of Kansas, during which he spent six months in Copenhagen studying furniture design and Scandinavian architecture. This experience significantly influenced his design philosophy, blending modernist principles with Scandinavian minimalism.​ Wall’s practice has allowed him to design homes for clients all over America.
