As the calendar turns, many professionals reflect on resolutions that go beyond the personal—seeking purpose, connection, and growth. For architects and allied professionals in Northern Virginia, the new year offers a meaningful opportunity: getting engaged with AIA NoVA.
Volunteering with AIA NoVA is more than giving back; it is a way to advance the mission of the profession while building leadership and management skills that translate directly to practice. Members who get involved expand their professional networks, serve the architecture community, and connect with mentor and mentee opportunities that support career growth at every stage. Engagement also fosters personal and professional development, offering real chances to develop and practice public speaking and presentation skills in supportive settings.
There are many ways to participate, with flexible time commitments ranging from as little as one hour to up to eight hours a month—or even shorter, project-based efforts. Opportunities include serving as a committee member or leader, joining a task group, helping with event planning, serving on the board, or contributing skills in photography, graphic design, or event setup and teardown.
To learn more, AIA NoVA invites members to attend one of two Virtual Volunteer Fairs via Zoom on Jan. 23 at Noon or Jan. 28 at Noon. This year, resolve to get involved—and shape the profession together.
