Historic Huntley 6918 Harrison Lane, Alexandria, VA
On Saturday, April 11, join Friends of Historic Huntley at Historic Huntley for its annual celebration of art and architecture on the occasion of commemorating America’s 250th anniversary. From 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., enjoy free tours of Historic Huntley, a piece of cake in honor of America’s 250th, and artists at work creating paintings “en plein air” (outdoors). Learn about the 1825-27 architecture and landscape of Huntley as a federal-period, country estate, complete with miniature villa, slave quarters, ice well and other outbuildings. Learn also about the Union soldiers cabins that were once on site during the Civil War. Browse a small used book sale featuring non-fiction titles in Virginia history, the Civil War, and historic architecture. At 3:00 p.m. attend a free reception for the artists whose paintings of the day will be available for viewing and sale. Historic Huntley is located at 6918 Harrison Lane, Alexandria, VA. Overflow parking will be at the adjacent Woodlawn-Faith United Methodist Church.
