Architecture for Education Firm Spotlight & Monthly Committee Meeting
Cost: FREE
Via Zoom
Every third-Thursday at noon, the AIA NoVA Committee on Architecture in Education (CAE) hosts a working meeting with our members to plan for our upcoming initiatives and activities.
In the spirit of sharing and learning, we kick off each session with a member firm spotlight where individuals can share cool projects, ideas, or topics of interest.
Acentech will host this month’s discussion and focus on acoustic design in educational spaces. The session, Acoustic Design Requirements for Today’s Green Schools, will discuss the role of acoustics in a quality learning environment and how it is a critical component when designing a green and healthy school. This session will review the LEED and CHPS requirements for room acoustics, sound isolation and background sound levels in classrooms. Examples of more specialized learning spaces will be provided, showing how acoustical designs should alternate from LEED and CHPS requirements.
