Arlington, Va. – The Northern Virginia Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Northern Virginia) announced the winning projects in its annual Design Awards program during a gala held at National Museum of the United States Army. AIA Northern Virginia architect members were recognized with awards for their designs of both built and conceptual/unbuilt work.
This year’s AIA Northern Virginia Design Awards received more than 100 entries. Decided by two distinct jury panels comprised of Dallas area architects, the 21 awards were given across seven categories.
Awards were given to architects whose projects include and demonstrate a level of good design principles of the 21st century. There are three different award levels in each category, and all of the awards recognize and celebrate the achievements AIA Northern Virginia members have created in the design of the built environment.
“The AIA Northern Virginia Design Awards showcase the number of highly-skilled architects and design firms available to our local community. These businesses demonstrate a commitment to design excellence that goes above and beyond, and we’re thrilled to be able to showcase such artistry in our profession,” said Roland Lemke, AIA, 2024 Design Award Committee Co-Chair and design principal at CannonDesign in Arlington, Va.
“I’ve participated in about eight other juries across the country and locally, and the quality of the work from the AIA Northern Virginia chapter was some of the best that I have seen,” said jury member Michael Malone, AIA, FAIA | Malone Maxwell Dennehy Architects, “Congratulations to all of this year’s AIA Northern Virginia Design Award Winners.”
