The AIA Northern Virginia Women in Architecture (WIA) Committee is dedicated to elevating awareness of the meaningful contributions women architects have made—and continue to make—to the built environment, both historically and in contemporary practice.

WIA actively supports outreach and mentorship initiatives that guide and encourage women to pursue careers in architecture and allied fields. Through partnerships with schools, professional organizations, and community groups, the committee seeks to broaden access to resources, role models, and clear career pathways. The committee also prioritizes visibility and advocacy, recognizing that women serving at all levels of practice and leadership is an essential component for creating lasting, systemic change.
