About Us

The Legislative and Government Affairs Committee serves as a nexus between local governments and AIA NoVA for the Northern Virginia region. The committee also endeavors to build relationships with allied professional associations on matters pertaining to policies and professional development. The Committee’s focus includes: legislative policies affecting architecture and planning; local government processes involving jurisdictional review of projects (permits, project entitlement and future planning goals); the advent of emerging technology that could influence the profession to ascertain if regulations are needed; and, opportunities to partner with local governments on areas of mutual interest.
