April is a licensed architect with over 10 years of experience in commercial and educational facilities. She joined the WIA Committee in 2013, prior to receiving her license. Recently, April has joined forces with local Girl Scout Troops in order to introduce architecture to girls age 7-10. Her goal is to create programs for girls up to age 15/16.

Jo Anne Murray, AIA is a Senior Project Manager whose roles and responsibilities include program planning, project design, team coordination, document production, specifications writing, quality control, and construction administration. She has over 38 years of experience in the field and specializes in federal facilities, healthcare, and education projects of unusual complexity often including multiple phases, renovation/integration of historic buildings, and implementation of many different project delivery methods including construction management, construction management at risk with GMP, and design build. Before joining HDR, she was managing principal of her own award winning design firm for over 25 years. She has been Chair of the AIA Northern Virginia for the past two years.

Marilisa del NinnoWIA Social Coordinator

Marilisa del Ninno is a graduate of the Illinois Institute of Technology where she earned a five-year Professional Bachelors degree in Architecture. During her time at IIT she gained experience working with clients on projects located in major U.S. cities including Chicago and New York where she designed a modern "pod" hotel and a high school. Marilisa spent a semester studying abroad in Venice, Italy where she collaborated with Italian architects on the preservation and restoration of the old city of L'Aquila after the natural disaster and the city of Aquilea to add an historic center with an outdoor museum incorporating bike paths to allow visitors to tour the ancient ruins.

Marilisa is currently working for M+dN Architects, www.mdnarch.com, for two and a half years. She is an active associate in the local chapter of the AIA, a chair on the committee of the Women in Architecture group and is currently pursuing her architectural registration and completing her IDP.

Simone SaidelDress for Success

Simone Saidel currently works for Larson Koenig Hendricks Architects, LLC in Alexandria. She has been with the firm for two years. She earned her M.Arch from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL and holds a B.F.A. in Interior Design from Cazenovia, NY. She is an active member of the Women in Architecture Committee, Young Architects Forum Committee and recently joined the Virginia Design Forum XII Planning Committee. Simone is currently a little more than half way through the IDP process and is actively working towards completing the ARE.

Kathie Prigmore

Kathie Prigmore joined STUDIOS in 2014, with over 30 years of experience in architecture as a practitioner, educator, and regulator. Her experience as a senior leader in the profession makes Kathie uniquely qualified to bring imagination and foresight to the management of the firm and to foster an environment of accountability, excellence, collaboration, and innovation among staff.

As Chief Operations Officer, Kathie provides firm-wide strategy, leadership, and management for Studios. She assists the firm’s principals in planning and directing all aspects of STUDIOS’ operational policies, objectives, and initiatives. She oversees decisions affecting communications, technology, and work process, ensuring all projects meet their business, design, and delivery goals. Kathie also serves as secretary of the Board of Directors.

Kathie is a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects and is a Trustee of the Virginia Center for Architecture. She served two terms on both the AIA National Ethics Council and the Virginia Registration board and chaired both.

Gina Robinson

Gina is an architectural designer specializing in graphics and representation, with experience in architecture, urban design, marketing, and project management. After graduating from the University of North Carolina Charlotte in 2007, she worked in healthcare and higher education before relocating to Suzhou, China in 2010. Following her repatriation in 2014, she joined Kerns Group Architects in Falls Church, Virginia and has become an active member of the Northern Virginia AIA and the Women in Architecture committee.

Chair of the Women in Architecture Lecture Series, Melissa received her Bachelor of Architecture degree from University of District of Columbia, completed IDP and currently taking the Architecture Registration Exam. Currently, Melissa is a Project Designer at Karn Charuhas Chapman & Twohey (KCCT), working on several standard embassy design and renovation projects for the US Department of State.

Theresa del Ninno

Theresa del Ninno is a principal at Maginniss + del Ninno Architects, founded in Alexandria, VA. Theresa attended the University of Notre Dame, receiving a Bachelor of Architecture Degree. She joined the firm in 2000 and was named a principal in 2006, taking an active role in the management of the firm.

Prior to joining Maginniss + del Ninno Architects, she acquired substantive international experience, managing her own consulting practice in Guinea, West Africa, and Dhaka, Bangladesh where she designed projects for the United Nations and international medical organizations. She designs simple, elegant solutions to complex challenges, which have received a number of design awards.

Active in her community, she serves on the Alexandria City Board of Architectural Review for the Parker Gray District. She currently serves as secretary on the board for the AIA Northern Virginia Chapter.

Valerie Hassett

Valerie is a registered architect and certified interior designer; she has been practicing for more than 25 years. Valerie has an extensive understanding of a wide variety of building types--including master site planning, offices, educational facilities, hotels, restaurants, churches and multi-family residential. Valerie has overseen architectural design work for multiple projects at once with a wide range of building typologies, and she is skilled at understanding the special needs of clients and fostering long term relationships. Valerie is President of Virginia Society AIA and Past President of both AIA Northern Virginia and the IIDA Mid-Atlantic Chapter. She has been recognized by her peers with the Herb Ginsberg Leadership Award and is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects..
