IESDC Collecting Funds to Help Puerto Rico
Posted Sunday, October 1

Please show your support in helping the devastated Puerto Rico recover from the humanitarian crisis inflicted when Hurricane Maria tore through the island last week.

The Illuminating Engineering Society District of Columbia (IESDC) is collecting monetary donations and giving them directly to the Foundation for Puerto Rico through a website run by IESDC Past President, Angelica Santana, a native of Puerto Rico:

The Foundation for Puerto Rico (FPR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works with a defined plan to develop Puerto Rico’s social and economic potential and transform it into an important competitor in the world. FPR is renowned and respected as a central figure in Puerto Rico's economic development.

In the last week, FPR has completely diverted its mission to coordinating relief efforts and distributing large scale donations to vetted organizations making immediate and long term recovery impacts on the ground. FPR's Colaboratorio, a shared workspace where several organizations have the opportunity to unite their ideas and resources for the development of Puerto Rico towards the future, has also become a hub for recovery efforts on the island.

100% of donations to this fund will go exclusively to relief for the victims of catastrophic Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

This is a dire humanitarian crisis and we thank all of the contributors from the bottom of our hearts.
Patrice Mulhern, IES DC Secretary
