Position Overview
Hoffmann Architects + Engineers is searching for an entry to mid-level marketing/business development professional to join our team in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. With opportunities to participate in all aspects of marketing and sales, the Business Development Associate works closely with the Director of Business Development and Office Manager for the Virginia office to identify, develop, and close new business. This position partners with staff company-wide including: local project staff to monitor opportunities for additional business with existing clients; business development staff in the other offices to increase opportunities and to identify prospects with multiple locations; and marketing staff to work on proposal and qualification packages. Since 1977, Hoffmann has specialized in the rehabilitation, preservation, and design detailing of facades, roofs, plazas/terraces, parking garages, and historic/landmark structures. With offices in CT, NY, and VA, Hoffmann is an award-winning specialty architectural and engineering firm that has built a reputation for excellence by resolving building exterior distress at major symbols of the country’s architectural heritage, such as the Chrysler Building, the United States Capitol building, the New York Stock Exchange, and the Smithsonian Institution.
Primary Responsibilities
Support the Virginia office through the following:
- Work collaboratively with technical staff to produce winning technical proposals.
- Develop collateral materials for credentials packages and proposals, including: project descriptions and data, resumes, service profiles, and technical approaches.
- Coordinate with consultants for proposal and qualification information.
- Create presentations and graphic materials for interviews, conferences, and seminars.
- Complete vendor qualification forms.
- Support social media communications.
- Collaborate in the development and implementation of a business development plan including identification of target market sectors and potential clients.
- Qualify and pursue new business based on potential revenue, profit, and timely close.
- Establish meaningful contact with qualified leads through cold calling, emails, social networking, and in-person meetings.
- Identify and participate in business/social/professional organizations and events, including tradeshows, that promote or generate business relationships.
- Perform related duties as assigned or required to meet firm goals and objectives.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field OR
- Equivalent combination of academic and professional experience.
