Organized by AIA PV and the Capital Area CRAN (Custom Residential Architects Network, an AIA Knowledge Community), a tri-chapter committee founded jointly by AIA DC, AIA Northern Virginia and AIA Potomac Valley.

Join us for an enlightening afternoon to explore cutting-edge LED lighting technologies with a special presentation by Dino Paturo from WAC Lighting. You'll quickly become a subject matter expert with all things LED as we break down the future of lighting design and innovation!

Course Description:
WAC Lighting's SSL (Solid State Lighting) Revolution CEU Course is approved by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and accredited by the American Lighting Association (ALA), The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), the Interior Designers of Canada (IDC) and the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC). Participants receive 1.0 credit from both the AIA and the IDCEC (which includes ASID, IIDA and IDC).

The SSL Revolution Program includes the top features, benefits and functionality of LED Lighting; the differences between traditional lamp sources and LEDs; and the success of LED lighting. In addition, the course describes the features and benefits of Organic LED (OLED) lighting and its current and future applications.

Course Level: Intermediate
Prerequisite Knowledge: Minimal knowledge about LED lighting is needed. This course will provide a good foundation.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Discover the many benefits of LEDs and LED lighting fixtures.

  2. To understand the many Types of Optical Media that can be used with LED lighting for a variety of applications.

  3. To discuss new Uses for LEDs with Layered Lighting.

  4. To learn about the various LED Color Metrics - CCT, CRI, GAI and their importance when choosing quality lighting.
