Dismantling Racism and Discrimination in the Architecture Profession – A Framework for Action
July 16
Noon-1:00p

Free webinar hosted by AIA Northern Virginia.
Event 2 in our Race in America Series.

As part of our conversation on Race in America, this second session focuses on our Chapter’s Action Plan towards Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion within our profession, our firms, and our chapter. The aim of the session is to identify concrete actions to accomplish short, middle, and long-term goals to promote, implement, and practice justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion within our profession as architects. This session will review steps already taken, initiatives underway to improve our existing programs, and plans to develop new ideas. The program will include a collaborative session to share stories, ask questions, and offer suggestions for action.

Learning Objectives:
• Discuss discrimination and inequality in the profession of architecture and consider action items to address the problem and work towards solutions.
• Develop ideas and plans for new programing, as well as collaborative initiatives to educate, promote, and support justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Consider how to tailor existing Chapter events and activities to better address justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Incorporate justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion goals in our Chapter’s platform for local advocacy efforts.

Registration will open soon.
