ARE Exam Series: Project Management

Each year the AIA Northern Virginia Young Architects Forum organizes seminars for those preparing to take the Architect Registration Exam® (ARE). Our award-winning series offers the opportunity to learn from a professional in each subject area and use that knowledge in preparation for the ARE. This year’s series runs from January to June.

All ARE sessions offer continuing education credit and can be taken by members as review sessions.

Entire series package $300 for AIA members, $450 for non-AIA members. Individual courses $75 for AIA members, $100 for non-AIA members.

Project Management

This course is designed to help candidates prepare to take the Project Management section of the Architect Registration Examination (ARE 5.0). The course content focuses on managing architectural projects through all phases of design and construction with in-depth discussion of organizational principles, contract management, consultant management, and quality control to ensure the public’s health, safety and welfare.

Learning Objectives:
• Participants will examine how to design and produce contract documents and consider how to staff and organize an architectural team and set schedules.
• Participants will consider how to administer contract requirements to competently deliver project services, protect public safety, and serve the interests of the architect and client.
• Participants will consider how to assemble and coordinate with a consultant team throughout the delivery process to guarantee quality and safety in all aspects of the project.
• Participants will examine how to develop and execute a quality control system to avoid errors and omissions, meet standard of care, and achieve project excellence.
