Custom Urban Two-Family Residence: A Construction Tour
July 10

Construction site located at 418 New Jersey Ave., SE, Washington, DC 20003 (located two blocks south of Capitol South Metro (blue/orange/silver lines), parking nearby is very limited.

Join AIA|PV and Capital Area CRAN for a construction tour and hear about trials and tribulations encountered by the architect and builders in tackling this complex custom infill project, a two-family flat located in the Capitol Hill Historic District, within the viewshed of the Capitol Building. The architect and general contractor will speak to the processes they’ve encountered thus far and convey a wealth of knowledge gained in dealing with clients, neighbors, and regulatory agencies toward realizing a successful project. Hear about structural and environmental challenges encountered, how design and other issues were resolved, and lessons learned while touring the building site, now under construction.

Presenters: Jonathan Kuhn, AIA, Architect and George Papaheraklis, FineCraft Contractors, Inc., General Contractor
