WeLive Crystal City, opened in 2016, is a co-living residence with furnished living spaces and common areas to provide shared community, work and social spaces. Perkins Eastman, the project Architect of Record, transformed a 1960s Crystal City office building into a co-living, micro-unit residential building, part of the shared workspace provider WeWork.
There are 216 units in the building, from small studio spaces to four bedroom units. Tenant amenities include media lounges, a library, professional kitchens, co-working space, a laundry-arcade, yoga studio and a courtyard with tables and grills. Daily refreshments, social events and classes are provided and the WeLive app functions as a message board and community news service for residents. Unlike typical apartment buildings, all these shared amenities encourage neighbors to mingle and build a community. Participants will tour Studio Murphy #413.
