AIA Northern Virginia
High R-Value Wall Assemblies: Design Options and Expected Performance
May 22

At the District Architecture Center, 421 7th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20004.

Organized by AIA|DC for the Capital Area CRAN; presented by George Fritz, COO, Horizon Builders.

With uncertainty in energy prices and an increased interest in sustainability and recent energy code requirements, more builders and architects are striving for dramatic levels of home energy efficiency. Performance of the home’s envelope is critical in meeting these goals.

Join the Capital Area CRAN for an overview of assembly options for high R-value walls with explanations of their expected performance with regard to heat, moisture and air flow. All assemblies will be rated for thermal control, durability, constructability, cost and material use. Learn about the proper levels of thermal insulation in a given climate zone and key performance criteria to be considered when designing R-value exterior walls.

1 HSW LU. Lunch provided by Horizon Builders. $10 for students & Assoc. AIA members; $15 for AIA & DAC members; $35 for non-members. Registration required here.
