Construction Tour: St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church
April 28
6:00-8:30p

At St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church, 555 Water Street, Washington, DC 20024. Parking is not available on site, but street parking and public garages can be found nearby. The site is a short walk from the Waterfront Metro Station (Green Line).

The Young Architects Forum committee will host a construction tour of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church lead by MTFA Architecture. The 16,000sf two-story church incorporates worship, education and community services to create a new identity for the congregation and surrounding neighborhood. This project is part of a larger mixed-use project and will be a cornerstone of the new southwest waterfront development, The Wharf, in Washington, DC. The sanctuary is elevated above the ground floor and composed with distinctive glass detailing so that it becomes a beacon within the community. Join the project’s architects as they discuss the development process, design goals and architectural details while walking through the construction progress to date.

Afterward, the group will head across the street to Cantina Marina on the water for Happy Hour.

Participants are required to bring a hard hat and wear closed-toe shoes. Contact Braden Field for more information.

2 HSW LUs. $10 AIA members; $15 non-members. Registration is required by April 25.
