The evolution of porcelain tile has changed dramatically: technology, formats and application usage. In this session we will provide in depth information required for successfully specifying Thin Porcelain as a material finish. This course will provide the participant detailed information on the current codes and regulations. The program will also examine the environmental impacts as it relates to sustainability and occupant health.

Upon completion of this course the participant will be able to:

1. Describe the history of porcelain tile through todays latest technology advances in terms of the significance and impact this has on properly specifying materials and the associated installation requirements.

2. Describe the governing building codes and regulations that address the suitable usage areas for Thin Porcelain and why.

3. Explain the occupant and environmental health benefits of Thin Porcelain and potential contribution to LEED®.

4. Analyze and calculate the potential cost benefit of Thin Porcelain tile-over-tile building reuse in terms of: financial costs, efficiency savings and minimization of occupant exposure to indoor air contaminants.
