Canstruction Build-Out Night
November 13

At Reagan Washington National Airport, Terminals B+C, Level 1, Baggage Claim Area.

Exhibits are on display at the airport through November 21.

AIA Northern Virginia’s 12th Canstruction® Competition features teams of architects building fantastic structures entirely of canned food, which ultimately goes to a local food bank, the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), in time to stock their shelves for the holidays.

But before these whimsical works become meals, they will be evaluated by an expert panel and awarded in the categories of Jurors’ Favorite, Structural Ingenuity, Best Use of Labels, Best Meal, People’s Choice, Honorable Mention and Most Cans Used. Winning entries will go on to compete in the International Canstruction competition.

Watch teams build their structures on November 13 and visit the exhibit through November 21. The event is free and the public is encouraged to attend.

Thank you for the continuing support of the Arlington Food Assistance Center and a special thanks to Reagan Washington National Airport for allowing us to display our structures.

For additional information about the Arlington competition, visit the Chapter’s Canstruction website, or contact the Chapter House at or (703) 549-9747.

Canstruction® is a national charity of the design and construction industry under the auspices of the Society for Design Administration. For additional information and to see sample structures, visit the Canstruction website.
