Jameson House Construction Tour - SOLD OUT
June 30

This tour is sold out. To be placed on the wait list, please email that Chapter.

Participants will tour a house under construction, designed by David Jameson, FAIA. The house features many innovative elements developed by the architect, including the use of black stainless steel cladding panels and a custom designed butt glazed window system. The architect will also discuss how the organization of spaces has been customized to reflect family needs and to provide numerous special and unique spaces.

Planned by AIA Northern Virginia for the Capital Area CRAN (Custom Residential Architects Network). Sponsored by Tradewood Windows & Doors, Inc.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will consider the structural system and will examine the custom steel framework of the house and how the doors blend into the curtain wall system.

Participants will examine the exterior cladding made of stainless steel panels and consider the process used to infuse the panels with black dye and hammer the surface to appear as rippling water.

Participants will examine the custom designed butt glazed window system, considering the technology which allows the operable units to push out and slide to the side and the necessary fabrication process.

Participants will examine the organization of spaces and will consider how the layout serves family needs and provides unique spaces to accommodate features such as a study loft and a batting cage.

Participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes.

1.5 HSW LUs. $15 for AIA Members, $25 for non-members. Refreshments will be served.

Advance registration is required and directions to the site will be sent to participants after registration is complete.
