This presentation, for interns and architects alike, offers practical information on legal and practice issues in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The seminar will feature APELSCIDLA and NCARB staff, discussing Virginia licensure requirements and regulations, reciprocal licensing, comity, NCARB certification status and more.

This is the final session of our 2015 ARE Prep Series. It is offered free of charge and provides 2 AIA LU.

Learning Objectives:

• Participants will consider the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation licensure procedures for Architects, including application requirements, degree verification, reference and experience forms and examination of DPOR licensure procedures.

• Participants will examine the legal requirements of Licensed Architects in Virginia, including the legal requirements to protect the health, safety and welfare of the general public, comply with business regulations, and accept responsibility of work by the application of a professional seal.

• Participants will examine standards of practice and conduct for Licensed Architects in Virginia, including the minimum standards and requirements pertaining to practice and professional responsibility.

• Participants will examine procedures for transferring National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) records to individual state jurisdictions, as well as the requirements and procedures for receiving comity in other state jurisdictions.
