AIA Northern Virginia COVID-19 Resources
Member, employee, and community health and safety are a priority for AIA Northern Virginia. So, due to the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent declaration of a state of emergency in Virginia, we are canceling or postponing all in-person meetings and gatherings through at least June 10, including all Architecture Month events. In addition, the Chapter House will remain closed as our staff (Debbie, Lorin and Matt) continues to work remotely.

Following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Virginia Department of Health, we will continue to monitor the situation to make informed decisions about our events and closures moving forward.

We are continuing to offer member services via email at If there is anything we can do to assist you, please email us and let us know.

Here is what you need to know about the Chapter's response

We plan to reschedule canceled and postponed events at a later date, although we do not yet have detailed information.

We are currently planning several online discussions and continuing education sessions and will provide additional information soon.

One Architecture Month activity, our virtual Travel Sketches Competition, can still be held despite social distancing and quarantines! The deadline has been extended to April 30 and the call for submissions is available here.

We understand that firms are currently focusing on the health and safety of their employees, their capacity to complete projects as many telework, and the resources necessary to succeed in an uncertain economy. So to help lessen your stress and workload, we are adjusting our Design Awards schedule, changing the due date from April to June, and we will reissue the Call for Entries with updated information in May.

The Chapter Board of Directors will continue to meet virtually and committees that would like to meet virtually are able to use our conference call service.

While always free for Chapter members, we will waive all Job Board fees to share as many job opportunities as we can.

Earn continuing education credits by taking online classes through AIAU, which offers 150+ sessions to choose from, many offering HSW credits.

We welcome your feedback and suggestions.
