Architect Member - AIA
Architect currently licensed to practice architecture in the United States, who lives or works in Northern Virginia.

Associate Member - Associate AIA
Not licensed to practice architecture, but meets one of the following:
Individuals who are interns participating in career responsibilities recognized by licensing authorities as constituting credit toward licensure.
Individuals who work under the supervision of an architect in a professional or technical capacity.
Individuals who hold a professional degree in architecture.
Individuals who work as a faculty member in a university program in architecture.
Recent Graduate Members - Associate AIA
Recent graduates of an accredited school of architecture are offered complimentary AIA National membership for the first year after graduation. Eligible individuals must provide a copy of their diploma.

Emeritus
An AIA member for 15 successive years and 70 years of age, or 60 years of age and fully retired, or incapacitated so as to be unable to work within the profession.

International Associate - International Associate AIA
Individuals who hold an architecture license or equivalent from a non-US licensing authority, but without license in the US.

Unassigned Members
A member of another AIA chapter may be an unassigned member of AIA Northern Virginia. Unassigned members enjoy all the benefits of chapter membership, except voting, including invitations to all our events at member cost, participation in our design awards program, and the opportunity to participate in all chapter committees.
Allied Professional Members
Allied Professional members are professionals in related fields that join the Northern Virginia Chapter of the AIA.
Allied Professional members enjoy all the benefits of Chapter membership, except voting, including reception of all Chapter communications, invitations to all our events at member cost, the opportunity to participate in Chapter committees, and are included in the Sponsor + Affiliate Directory, distributed annually to the membership and available here.
