DesignDC Proposals DueMarch 23
DesignDC 2017 will take place October 3-4 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, with tours offered on October 5.
The theme of this year’s conference is Rooted in Resilience. The Mid-Atlantic region has led the way in making the built environment and the AEC industry more resilient in the four Dimensions laid out by 100 Resilient Cities: Leadership & Strategy, Health & Wellbeing, Economy & Society, and Infrastructure & Environment. By taking actions such as advocating for public transportation systems, designing to protect against natural disasters, providing resources to underserved populations, making diverse hires, staying up-to-date on technology, varying marketing strategies, building with sustainable materials, and following safety and well-being codes, architects are making a difference for themselves and their fellow citizens.
DesignDC 2017 will look at how the region has achieved resiliency and how architects, interior designers, engineers, contractors, planners, landscape architects, and developers can be leaders in advocating for resiliency. Washington, DC has been named one of the 100 Resilient Cities of the world by the Rockefeller Foundation.
Proposals can range from buildings to interiors and urban plans to landscapes. Preference will be given to those presentations that best fit the theme. The DesignDC Committee is particularly interested in case studies in the region, local partnerships, and topics relevant to the Mid-Atlantic.
Classroom presentations are one-and-a-half hours in length, while tours are two hours in length. All speakers will receive complimentary conference registration.
Proposals are due by Thursday, March 23, at 5:00p.
