On a Path to Zero Energy Construction: Passive House & Building Workshop - POSTPONED

The course is a one-day introductory workshop on super energy-efficient passive house and building principles specific to our local mixed-humid climate. Passive building comprises a set of design principles used to attain a quantifiable and rigorous level of energy efficiency within a specific quantifiable comfort level. Passive building principles can be applied to all building typologies, from single-family homes to apartment building to offices and skyscrapers. The workshop is geared toward professionals in the region looking to learn more about zero energy construction techniques.

The workshop will include expert presentations covering:
• Introduction to passive design principles, standards, and certification
• North American passive building trends and climate specific strategies
• Low-load Heating, Cooling, and Ventilation design basics for passive houses
• HVAC special concerns for mixed-humid climates
• Low energy hot water solutions
• Single family and multifamily local passive building case studies
