Eligibility
Any licensed Architect AIA member of the Northern Virginia Chapter may enter a project for which the entrant has had significant responsibility for design authorship of the project submitted. All work submitted must have been completed after June 1, 2004. Projects previously honored by an award in this program, are not eligible for entry. Members are encouraged however, to resubmit all eligible projects that have been previously entered but not yet awarded. All entries are also eligible for special recognition for their application of sustainable design principles.

Purpose
The AIA Northern Virginia Chapter Design Awards were created to recognize and celebrate its members' achievements in the design of the built environment. The Design Awards program honors and celebrates its members' commitment to design excellence in various practice groups. As the premier event of the Chapter's year, the awards program demonstrates, to clients and the public, the availability of local award-winning firms and individuals dedicated to providing outstanding architectural design and execution.
