Design Awards Gala

The Annual Design Awards Gala will be held on Saturday, June 6th, 2009. The event is being hosted at the Volkswagen Group of America's U.S. Headquarters in Herndon, designed by VOA Associates Incorporated. For more information about the building, see the "On the Boards" feature in the January/February Issue of AIA Northern Virginia News.

The Gala begins at 6:00p with Hors D'oeuvres and cocktails, followed by a buffet. Attendees will have the opportunity to view all projects submitted to the Design Awards and learn about the Volkswagen Headquarters building while enjoying live music.

The presentation of awards, begins at 8:00p with a welcome by Chapter President Al Cox, FAIA. The evening's Keynote Speaker is Frank Harmon, FAIA, Founder + Principal of Frank Harmon Architect, PA, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Design Awards Co-Chairs Scott Matties, AIA and J. Paul Lewis, AIA will then reveal the winning projects. The evening concludes with dessert and coffee while attendees enjoy images of the winning designs.

Black Tie / Dress Business Attire Appropriate.

Tickets are $100 and prepaid reservations are required by Thursday, May 21, 2009 due to restricted building access.
